Surrounded by vineyards, neighbored by the legendary Chateau Montelena Winery, and blessed with unhindered views of Mt. St. Helena and the Palisades, this Calistoga estate was designed for savoring Napa's abundant pleasures. Sited on 5.7 acres, about half of which are planted to Napa's "rediscovered" Petite Syrah grapes, and centered on a 4,760 square foot structure that fully deserves the phrase "Great Room," this gated residence boasts five separate structures comprising 8,400 square feet of living area. This impressive compound includes the Great Room; a 1,000 sq. ft. guest cottage with bath, kitchenette and laundry room; two separate but identical 625 sq. ft. en suite guest bedrooms; and a large 2,000 sq. ft. building housing an office, woodworking shop, half bath, and two car garage.

The Great Room, guest cottage, and two bedroom suites each enjoy tall, vaulted ceilings and each is completely surrounded by verandas accessed by French doors, the combination of which embraces Napa's warm (and warmer) summer days. These buildings also feature heated architectural concrete flooring, heat pumps for additional heating or cooling, and travertine tiled baths and showers. For the warmer and warmest days, a large swimming pool serves as a focal point for the outdoor living and dining area. The Great Room is unusually spacious and is notable for a ceiling that soars to 30 feet above the large central kitchen. The room is airy and bathed in natural light entering from four dormer windows located on the sides of the ceiling's pyramidical peak.

On one side of the kitchen is a chandeliered dining area with a buffet at one end, a wet bar with two drawer style refrigerators at the other, and a granite faced fireplace in the middle. On the opposite side of the kitchen is an open seating area with built-in library shelves at one end and a wood burning fireplace at the other. The kitchen has black granite countertops and is appointed with all Kitchen Aid appliances: a 6 burner gas cooktop, 2 ovens, a microwave, a dishwasher, 2 refrigerators and a freezer. All cabinetry was hand-crafted onsite with inset beaded hardwood frames. The Great Room contains a men's bathroom with steam room, a women's bathroom with changing room, a walk-in 1,000 bottle wine cellar, and a combination laundry room and prep kitchen with 2 refrigerator/freezers, two dishwashers and a double stainless steel sink. Of course, there are far more amenities, but the most pleasing is in learning that even a good life can be improved upon.
