Angwin

Overview

As part of the Howell Mountain AVA, Angwin sits above the fog in a microclimate where vineyards produce grapes known for their distinctive character, nurtured by lands rich in Aiken soils. The noticeable absence of restaurants and hotels lends credence to the appeal inherent to this area – visitors come for the wineries. What they leave with is a new appreciation for the subtleties offered by the town on The Hill: fewer crowds, breathtaking vistas and a chance for adventure. Perhaps lesser known about Angwin is that it’s an outdoor enthusiast’s playground offering miles of wide open spaces at local hiking favorites: Linda Falls Trail, the Las Posadas State Park and over 3,000 acres at the Dunn- Wildlake Ranch Preserve. At an elevation of nearly 1,800 ft. and a mere 15-minute drive from the valley floor, Angwin boasts some of the best views of the valley, stretching from Oakville to Calistoga.
